Na Hale O Kilinahe is an affordable housing project located on the corner of Maha Road and Makawao Avenue in Makawao, Maui. The project is geared to specifically assist those families whose income falls between 80% - 160% of HUD median income as adjusted for the Island of Maui. This project is the first enacted under the County of Maui's new "Work Force Housing" ordinance, and KSD Hawaii has entered into an Affordable Housing Agreement with the County of Maui.
Na Hale O Kilinahe consists of thirteen (13) total units, eight (8) existing units, and five (5) additional units that are currently being built on the project site. The existing units had been neglected over the years and were in disrepair when purchased in June of 2007. They have since been totaled rehabilitated and retrofitted with energy saving appliances and solar hot water systems. As part of the project, Maha Road has been widened and a side walk added, overhead utilities on the property have been put underground, and the main roads into Na Hale O Kilinahe have been paved. The new units are now under construction, and slated to be completed by the end of 2008.
There are several units available that do not have any County buy back restrictions attached to them.
